Here is our lovely podcast for July (direct link here and it’s also on iTunes). Chewie and I also have a guest in this edition; that of the perky Kwok Law, a senior artist here at the studio. He talks about his career history and what it means to be artist amongst the smelly throng that make up doublesix.
Naturally, we also talk more about the Burn Zombie Burn upcoming DLC “In Space”. We also talk a bunch about games and other stuff, but that’s pretty normal for us really.
- Retro Recommendations
- Gods – A mythologically themed platformer with lovely pixel art. video link
- The Chaos Engine – A top down run and gun shooter by the Bitmap Brothers. video link
- Speedball 2 – A brutal futuristic sports game of Norman Jewison proportions. video link
- Secret of Mana – A Squaresoft action RPG that pretty much defines the halcyon era of SNES gaming. video link
- Parodius – A “parody” of Gradius (hence the name) and as such wonderfully bonkers. video link
- Omega Boost – An overlooked classic that actually makes the impossible Macross dogfight functionally plausible. video link
- Remote Control Dandy – This was the first in a line of literal robot limb simulators, very interesting game and different too. video link
- Herzog Zwei – Pretty much the birth of modern RTS games in the West. video link
As per the last podcast, we all come up with a selection of retro games that we like and think you’d enjoy playing. Below are some links and videos if you’re at all curious about any of them:
