We’re hiring…again!

After our last round of hires, we’re now also looking for a talented producer to help us out on some new games. If you head on over to the jobs page the details are all there.

As many of you may already now, we are based in the heart of Guildford (right on the high street in fact), have a really upbeat studio atmosphere, we’re all gamers and we get free doughnuts too (yeah, FREE doughnuts). Put simply it’s an awesome place to work, so why not come and join us?

Friends of d6

It turns out that the “Friend of d6″ trophy in Burn Zombie Burn, where you have to beat all our Dev Scores (the ones set by Chewie, Jon and I), is one of the toughest trophies for a PSN game. It has also engendered a certain level of hardcore credibility since the game’s release last year.

The game’s fan-made FAQ, by Vyrastas, even has a special section dedicated to the exclusive club of gamers that have managed to 100% complete the trophies for the game (even linking a video to the moment one player managed to land the final “Friend of d6″ trophy, shown below).

(Either JavaScript is not active or you are using an old version of Adobe Flash Player. Please install the newest Flash Player.)

Considering this is more than a little awesome, we’re going to start rewarding these skilled gamers with trinkets and virtual high-fives (more on this in the coming weeks). In short, keep an eye out for our future games as they may also contain a fiendishly difficult “Friend of d6″ trophy or achievement.

James on wootfly.tv

Our studio head, James Brooksby, was recently interviewed over at wootfly.tv. This is a cool new site that focuses on emphasising giving the creative side of games creation (as in the developers) a chance to speak out, or in the words of the site’s founder Joel Benton “the people that make games are as interesting and engaging as the people that make TV, films and music – they’re just not as well known. Wootfly.tv is trying to change that, one casual chat at a time”. The videos also use a fair bit of nifty tagging too whenever certain subjects are discussed. In any case, James’ interview is linked below.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Announced

As has been announced elsewhere, we are now working on a new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire game. As well as the core game that everyone is familiar with, this new edition will go beyond that and also support DLC for various game “packs”. These packs will also be linked to famous entertainment franchises, which we unfortunately aren’t allowed to talk much about at the moment (though feel free to take some guesses).

For those that have been following us recently, this is the first of the three games we currently have in development. The other two are entirely separate IP’s we’ve created ourselves though, in case you were wondering about that.

Launch of Doublesix as New Division for Catalis

Doublesix Video Games, established by Kuju Entertainment in 2007, has been established as a new business division in Catalis. This move emphasises the importance of the self-published digital games segment in line with the Catalis Group strategy. Doublesix therefore now sits alongside its sister divisions Kuju Entertainment and Testronic Labs. Kuju CEO, Nigel Robbins, will also drive Doublesix’s ongoing development as a world class leader in its field with the provision of additional studio resoures. Under its Guildford-based studio head, James Brooksby, doublesix has a number of digital games in development based on original and established IP and due for publication in the near future.

After a bit of a wait Geometry Wars™: Touch has finally appeared on the iPhone, after its iPad release back in April (which we also worked very hard on). Naturally, we’re all very happy with the final game and hope that fans of the series will enjoy it as much as we did making it.

In Space passes at Sony Europe

The long delayed “In Space” DLC for Burn Zombie Burn, has passed submission at Sony Europe. This means that both the patch and DLC will be hitting the PSN in the near future. Naturally, release dates and pricing will disclosed in the next week or so. In any case this still calls for major w00tage!

For our American fans; we’re still waiting on Sony America as both the patch and DLC are still in submission with them. The moment we know anything on the status of the American release we’ll obviously let you know.
