Update: Zombie Sushi

Fear not, BZB fans, Zombie Sushi IS coming.

Admittedly it’s taken much longer than it should have – for which we apologise – but the Burn Zombie Burn! DLC ‘Zombie Sushi’ will see the light of day. Ollie offered an update on the situation back in September, and this explanation still holds true. That said, the DLC won’t launch this side of Christmas, and we’re instead aiming for release around March.

I’m aware how frustrating this is for you trophy hunters, but hang in there! When there’s more news to share, it’ll find it’s way onto the blog here.

What happened to Zombie Sushi?

Back in March we talked about Burn Zombie Burn getting released in Japan and the Zombie Sushi DLC would follow suit. We’re now in September and where the hell is it? Good question but it has a rather complex answer. In truth, Zombie Sushi was basically done (from an art and design standpoint) in September of 2010. What was left was for a code pass to fix some bugs. The reason this still hasn’t happened is due to the other games in development, such as All Zombies Must Die and Strike Suit Zero, and until at least one of those games are done and out the door our management have put Zombie Sushi on hold for the time being. From a personal standpoint, as I scripted the levels in Zombie Sushi (as well as In Space and worked the core game too), to not see the DLC released is indeed frustrating but our other games obviously need the resources. With any luck, it will get sorted by the end of this year but we’ll keep you posted either way.

Burn Zombie Burn available on Apple Mac

For those curious, Kavcom have announced today that Burn Zombie Burn is available on the App Store. At the princely sum of £5.99, the Mac version comes in at 147 MB and needs Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later to run. There are extensive controller options available, from mouse and keyboard to a plethora of game pads. Enjoy!

Burn Zombie Burn to come to the Mac and iOS devices

We’re happy to announce that there will be a Mac version of Burn Zombie Burn in May, followed by an iOS app version (for iPad, iPhone and iPodTouch) later in the year. For those curious, these ports are being handled by Kavcom on our behalf. In any case, we’re suitably happy that the game will finally find an audience on the Mac and other Apple hardware.

As for Zombie Sushi and the forthcoming patch for the original PS3 version of the game, this is still underway. However, due to the Japanese release, the subsequent regions are being delayed as the patch is the same across all regions, on account of the game’s global leaderboards. Once we have an update on its progress, you’ll be the first to know.

BZB in Famitsu

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has covered the upcoming release of Burn Zombie Burn in Japan on PSN. For those wondering what’s been happening with the latest (PS3) patch and Zombie Sushi; now that we’re going to be finally releasing the game in Japan we’ll hopefully have some happy news for our fans in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

BZB PC patch, now with cross-hair!

Posted on : 20-10-2010 | By : ollie | In : Burn Zombie Burn

Just so people know, we’re in the final stages of sorting out a new patch for the Steam version of Burn Zombie Burn. Specifically, the addition of a 3D cross-hair (shown above) that allows you to aim more accurately when using the mouse and keyboard control setup (something that people have been asking for since it was released a while back). The reason for a 3D cross-hair over a 2D one is down to accuracy, as the camera angle caused issues with a straight 2D cursor. So the delay was due to creating a system that would work in the game world itself. With any luck, the patch will go live in a week or two.

Friends of d6

It turns out that the “Friend of d6″ trophy in Burn Zombie Burn, where you have to beat all our Dev Scores (the ones set by Chewie, Jon and I), is one of the toughest trophies for a PSN game. It has also engendered a certain level of hardcore credibility since the game’s release last year.

The game’s fan-made FAQ, by Vyrastas, even has a special section dedicated to the exclusive club of gamers that have managed to 100% complete the trophies for the game (even linking a video to the moment one player managed to land the final “Friend of d6″ trophy, shown below).

Considering this is more than a little awesome, we’re going to start rewarding these skilled gamers with trinkets and virtual high-fives (more on this in the coming weeks). In short, keep an eye out for our future games as they may also contain a fiendishly difficult “Friend of d6″ trophy or achievement.

We were recently visited by some lovely people from Deutsche Welle, which is a big German international broadcaster. They were interested in our take on the recent tax break reversal by the new UK coalition government, something that has been understandably rubbing people’s backs up in the UK games industry quite a bit. Apart from crediting me with creating Burn Zombie Burn (which is very generous as I only did the scripting, along with Jim and Chewie obviously) the rest of the piece covers the wider impact the tax breaks are going to have in the UK. Naturally, the below video is also available in German and the original link on Deutsche Welle’s website is here, as the YouTube one cuts out towards the end.

Burn Zombie Burn now on Steam

Posted on : 13-08-2010 | By : ollie | In : Burn Zombie Burn

As of yesterday, Burn Zombie Burn is now finally available on Steam. Like the PS3 version before it all the modes and levels are present (except multiplayer). It also supports keyboard and mouse obviously but if you have a game pad then we strongly recommend using that if you can. If you buy it now you even get a 10% discount!

What with the Steam release of Burn Zombie Burn but a few days away, Gametrailers have been kind enough to host the exclusive debut trailer for the PC version (shown below). For those that played the PS3 original then the PC version will afford you the same amount of zombie burning goodness. You can pre-order the PC version on Steam here and it will go live on August 12th.
